We all heard about the word copyright and the idea of this licensing
scheme, the value of it to all authors, artists etc...but ever heard
of copyleft?! the reason why i got interested on this topic is because
i'm left handed. it doesnt have any connection to it but it just
sparked my interest because it's a play on the word "copyright". haha.
well thee real reason why i came across this is because i want to know
the legalities and repercussions if i copy and paste pictures off of
internet to my personal blog.So i googled it and came upon this term. Im not a lawyer so i just trust my
understanding of what i read online. in the end, i decided i won't take
chances copying pictures especially of professional photographers who
by the way, can really sue you once caught usig their work of art.
about hunting the people who do use them without consent and posted
commercially?!!! it is possible... :( thst gives me a good reason to
take more photos using my own camera. :)
While copyright allows authors to prohibit others from reproducing, adapting or distributing copies fo their works, copyleft on the other hand gives a person who gets a copy of a work permission to reproduce, adapt or distribute work as long as it's uses the same licensing scheme at the end.. The worldwide web definitely became a smaller avenue for me to find pictures that I can post on my blogs but at the same, it gives me a sense of responsibility. I realized how little things could get so complicated by just being ignorant about it. I don't know how many people got caught copying works of others but for sure I know I'll have to be careful.
